*BLOG TOUR* "Let Me Love" by Michelle Lynn

SYNOPSIS:

A chance encounter. An undeniable connection. An unimaginable twist of fate.

Kailey’s life is crumbling. Her best friend and sister, Jen, is dying, leaving her young family devastated. With little hope of saving her, Kailey is forced to face a reality she never expected.

Trey’s life is fun and carefree. He loves the girls, his drums, and his friends. That’s not to say he isn’t continuously plagued by a difficult decision made years ago—one that changed the course of his life.

Despite the connection they make when their paths unexpectedly cross, Kailey knows her life has no room for anyone else right now. But regardless of how many times she pushes him away, Trey only fights harder to make a place for him in her life and in her heart.

Trey thought he knew heartbreak, but he had no idea until life gave him a second chance, only to snatch it away just as fast. This time he’s determined to keep his place in the life of the ones he loves.

Is there such a thing as fate? If so, can Kailey and Trey hold on to one another long enough to discover there’s no such thing as a chance encounter?

Michelle Lynn, has definitely become one of my all time favorites. And I have to say, she BROUGHT IT with this book. Think you loved The Invisibles before? Think again.. Because "Let Me Love" just brought this series to a wholeeee new level.
"I just lied to the only man I would ever love."
This is Trey's story. Trey quickly became my favorite of the group as soon as he was introduced. I figured I would spent the entire book swooning over Trey's sarcasm, hilarious antic's, and general bad-boy-ness. I did, but it was more than that. HE was more than that. And we get a really indepth look into his secrets, his past, his feelings, and his love. Add Kailey into the mix? With her own completely different set of life issues and challenges? One. Amazing. Book. AND, one amazing love story.
" 'Ding, Ding, Ding. One for tat-boy.' She holds her finger up, making a line in the air. Man, I just found the female version of me."
We met Kailey in Let Me In, and were left with a bunch of questions. No worries, all of them get answered, and then some.  You know from the synopsis what Kailey's biggest challenge will be, the potential loss of her sister. But there is so much more to it. So much unexpected.

I'm not going to even try to say that this book is an all around happy story. It's not. It's the realest book of the series (and you all know how much I LOVE this series). It's heartbreaking. It's happy. And then it's not anymore. And then it is. And then BOOM, curveball. BAM, another curveball. You will be laughing entirely too hard one second, and sobbing your heart out the next. I loved every single second of this book. I didn't want it to end. I still don't want it to have ended. It was amazing.

You want twists and turns and then MORE twists and MORE turns? Grab this book. And note: It can absolutely be read as a stand alone. Sure, it would help if you knew who all of the other characters were, but it is written in such a way that even if you haven't read the other books, this story would still make complete sense. So if you're a Michelle Lynn newbie? Start with this book. Then, because I KNOW you're going to fall in love with it, go back and read Don't Let Go and Let Me In. Or hey, just pick up the whole series and read it in order. Why? Because you're missing out on an amazing story, a group of friends you will want to be apart of, and some phenomenal writing.

EXCERPT:

I curl my knees up to my chest, shivering, my face glued to the couch. I peel my mouth away from the leather, wiping the drool as I sit up. Shit, it’s cold in this state. Staring at the practically empty bottle of Jack sitting on the coffee table, regret hits me. I’ll be useless for the rest of today. That is, until I can drown myself into another bottle tonight.

After I stand up, I attempt to steady myself by holding my arms out, like a toddler on a balance beam, willing the room stop swirling. “He’s down here,” Dex screams up the stairs.

“Shit, quiet the fuck down,” I tell him, and he laughs boisterously. Jackass!

“What the hell, man? We’ve been searching all over for you,” he says, plopping himself on the couch.

“Well, you found me,” I say, sitting back down, grateful for the excuse not to move for the time being.

“You got to get it together. We’re going to that party at Sam’s tonight. Screw Kailey, there’ll be plenty of girls begging to have your dick tonight.” Dex’s attempt to pull me from this funk, only reminds me of who Kailey thinks I am.

“Shut the hell up, Hulk.” Brady smacks Dex across the back of his head. He tosses me a bottle of water and sits on the other side of me.

“Just because you and Grant have gone all in, doesn’t mean the rest of us want one pussy for the rest of our lives,” Dex adds with humor in his voice.

“Grow up,” Brady says and picks up the nearly empty bottle in front of him. “If this,” he waves it in the air, “and fucking a different pussy every chance you get is being single, then I’m more than happy where my dick lands every night,” he finishes, setting the bottle back down.

“Save us the whole commitment is the best speech,” Dex banters back.

Brady stares Dex down in annoyance while all the back and forth makes my headache a little more intense.

“If she has you doing this, she must be worth it.” Brady cocks an eyebrow at me, and I stare back at him, already recognizing he’s right, but no way in hell am I going to admit it to him.

“Shit,” I mumble, and Brady drones his fatherly know it all ‘uh huh’ under his breath. Cocky bastard.  Standing up, I take the steps two at a time. Right before I reach the top, I hear Brady and Dex talking.

“You give shitty advice,” Brady tells Dex.

“Fuck off, Mrs. Sadie Miller,” Dex says in return. “He’s gonna become pussy whipped, just like your ass.”

“And believe me, he’ll be happier,” Brady adds. As I reach the main floor, I pray Brady’s right.

Grant is damaged, selfish, and undeserving of love…or so he thinks.
Jessa is happy, in love, and has overcome her past…or so she thinks.
Grant and Jessa can’t stop thinking about one another since being introduced at a party a month ago. And despite their differences, they can’t seem to stay away from each other either. However, both are hiding secrets of less-than-perfect pasts, fearing what will happen when those mistakes come to light. As they grow closer, they each battle their own insecurities, and neither believes that they are worthy of the kind of love that they both still want. So if it’s true that opposites attract, what happens when the similarities begin to surface?

MY THOUGHTS

I love this series. Love love love it! Super major fan of Michelle's writing, along with EVERY single character in these books.

This is Grant and Jessa's book. The unexpected couple from this series. Two completely polar opposite people, who end up having the most amazing bond. But there are a few things in the way; Grant not trusting "love", and wanting his career path that he has set for himself go to plan, and Jessa with her past.. oh.. and there's Rob.. (pfft.. asshole..).

" 'You do understand that, regardless of age, love can either break your heart or cause you to soar to new heights. It's a chance you take no matter if you are a billionaire or if you are on welfare. Heartbreak isn't prejudiced, Grant.' "
(good old Mr. C and his words of wisdom!)

There are issues and parts of their stories revealed that I definitely was not expecting. Michelle took their story to a whole new level. Sadie and Brady had their own issues, but Grant and Jessa have, in certain ways, deeper ones. Sadie and Brady fell hard and fast, Grant and Jessa took a while to get used to the idea. The differences between "Don't Let Go" and "Let Me In" are amazing. I definitely did not miss Brady and Sadie as much as I thought, because we got a lot of them in "Let Me In"! I seriously thought I might go through Brady and Sadie withdrawal, but their story was continued along in this book as well. It was the perfect combination of Grant and Jessa's story, with just enough of everyone else for it to feel like we weren't missing a thing.

Grant is definitely wise beyond his years, and Jessa has been through enough that her head is (usually) firmly planted on her shoulders. The two of them combined, though not your typical couple, is perfect. That doesn't mean that there won't be problems that arise, and situations to move on through. As every usual couple, there are up's and down's.. it just boils down to how they handle them. Though their views on relationships may be tainted, it us up to them to both help each other heal.

" 'It means you survived. That you struggled through a terrible time in your life, but you broke through it and overcame it, becoming even more beautiful. That's what this represents. You had a rough couple years, but look at you now.. a spectacular, beautiful lotus flower.'

'God, how'd I ever get you?' "

"Let Me In" had me laughing, crying (yep.. definitely a few ugly cry parts), and feeling right along with Grant and Jessa. I adored their story, and I can NOT wait for the next book! We get a huge insight into Trey in "Let Me In", and now I am dyingggg for his book "Let Me Love" (book #3). I have a feeling he might be my favorite ;)

Favorite Quote:

"If you hold each other's hearts and you love and respect one another, nothing will be able to come between you two."
(yes.. that is from the biggest cry part)

EXCERPT

Once the game ends, I politely stand up to say my goodbyes. After hugging all the women and shaking all the men’s hands, Jessa says she’ll walk me out.

“What are you doing for the rest of break?” she asks as we continue to take steps to the front door. I can’t help but feel that my time here has gone by too fast tonight.

“I have to work but other than that, not much of anything,” I answer.

“Well, call or text me and we can get together,” she says casually when we reach the door.
I grab my jacket and turn back toward her. “You do the same, I’ll be around,” I inform her.

“What are you doing for New Year’s?” The hesitation in her voice makes me hopeful.

“I usually meet one of my buddies in their hometown, but this year I don’t have any plans,” I embarrassingly admit.

“Well, you do now. I have a friend who’s throwing a party. Why don’t you come? Brady and Sadie will be there too,” she says. The way her fingers fiddle with her multiple ear piercings is adorable.  I wonder if it’s a nervous habit. The thought that she’s uneasy asking me, makes my lips turn up widely in response.

“Alright, do you want me to pick you up?” I pray the desperation in my voice goes unnoticed.

“No, that’s okay. Rob will be home, so you can meet us there. I’ll text you the address.” Just like that, the excitement of a date with Jessa vanishes.

“Sounds good.” I open the door, displaying what I imagine is my fakest smile. “See you, Jessa,” I say, waving my hand.

“Hold up, Grant,” she calls out. When I turn around, she wraps her arms around my neck and pushes herself against me.

I quickly back away, after the briefest and most awkward hug ever. Regret consumes me automatically when I see her questioning face, but the last thing I need is her feeling how excited she can make me just from a simple hug.

“Merry Christmas, Grant,” she softly says, nervously biting her lip. This girl has so many different personalities I’m beginning to wonder who the real Jessa Harrison is.

“Merry Christmas, Jessa.” I turn around, walking down the steps. I desperately want to turn around to see if she’s watching me go, but I can’t bear the thought that she isn’t. The chance that she might have shut the door right away kills me. Turning the corner after walking through the small wrought-iron fence, my willpower weakens and I glance up to the door. To my surprise, she’s still standing there. I give her a quick wave, and she smiles at me before waving back. When I turn around, I can’t stop the huge grin that absorbs my face. Yeah, I’m not the only one feeling something here.
