Okay. Deep Breaths. I can write this review.. I can write this review.. 

First of all, if you are not okay with DARK stories, I mean super dark stories (rape/abuse), where you question yourself for actually enjoying them because they are SO DARK, then rethink reading this. I thought I knew dark stories, I didn't. Not until I read this book. 

This is the type of story that will have your insides completely twisting, yet have you completely intrigued. 

"I make you love me, or at least, I make you believe that you do. I don't want love, I don't make love."

This isn't a happy story. It's not your typical "omg I HATE this guy" in the beginning and "aww I love him" by the end. No, I HATED this guy the entire time. I straight up wanted to punch the Master in the face. I wanted to shake Rebecca and tell her to run, run as far as humanly possible away from this guy. But at the same time, I understood both of them. IT MAKES NO SENSE. My head is still all screwed up from this book.

"Your right to anything and everything has been stripped - your thoughts, your emotions, your choice, and possibly your life - none of those are yours any longer. And you are not a slave, you are a courtesan. It would be best that you learned the difference." 

The writing, was phenomenal. Seriously, it was amazing. It made me feel like I was right in the room with them, watching everything happen. Which made this book hit 1,000 times harder. But that was definitely a good thing. Just writing something dark to write a dark story, anyone can attempt that. But that wouldn't even compare to someone who is writing the a dark story, in such a way, that you feel like you are IN the story itself. And that's what Lily White did. She threw you right into the story. 

If you're a fan of dark reads, get this NOW. If you're unsure if you like dark reads, make this one your first, because seriously, I haven't read darker than this. Her Master's Courtesan was twisted, tortured, disturbing, and I could NOT put it down. Well okay, I may have taken a few quick "I need to catch my breath, and slow my heart" breaks, but other than that, completely un-put-downable.

(phew! now that that is out of the way..)

Warning, this review is going to be super crazy vague, because if I get into the story too much, it will give EVERYTHING away. And you do not want that. You NEED to read this book for yourself. It was everything I wasn't expecting, and it was phenomenal.

We left off at "hey, get me the name of that stripper.." and that is precisely where Entice picks up. Sawyer, still completely entranced by the girl whose name he doesn't even know yet. But his luck is about to change, and they are about to be reunited in the funniest of ways. (I said it once, and I'll say it a million times.. I LOVE this crew)

"You can chase and chase a butterfly and never catch them. But if you stand still, they may decide to land right on you."

Now that Sawyer and Emmett are thrown into eachother's lives, it's a battle of wills from eachother. Sawyer, for the first time in his life, wants it all. And Emmett, is doing everything possible to keep him at arms length. But come on, it's Sawyer, who can say no to Sawyer for too long?!

"Maybe I'll start leaving myself sticky notes or put a snap band around my wrist as reminders of why it's simply a bad idea to think he's a good idea."

When the full reason of Emmett's failure to commit to Sawyer comes out.. the entire Crew is about to change..
..and this is where I stop telling you ANYTHING MORE about this book.
You'll thank me.
Trust me.

Now, we get 1,000 times deeper into Sawyer as a person, and I LOVED that. We all see him as this player bad ass doesn't give a flying whatever about anything kind of guy. But in Entice, he is broken down,  we see what makes Sawyer, Sawyer, and if you didn't love him already, you will adore him after this one.
And of course, the Evolve Series books would not be complete without full Crew involvement, and we get a little bit of everyone again! We even get the oh so amazing group text messages, love those!
We also get a new crew member out of it, and you will love her just the same!

"Take it, scared girl. Take the chance to do great things. Pave your path and walk it, head high."

Another AMAZING Evolve novel from S. E. Hall! A definite must read.

"It never ceases to amaze me, really. A woman in the passenger seat won't shut the hell up. It's all 'turn here, slow down, stop and ask,' but she'll take her way through mediocre sex, unfulfilled, and never say a word. What is that?"

Sighing, I wrap a towel around my waist and open the door, ready to try and be at least behave cordially, which I know is only right. “Listen, can I—”

“She’s gone.”

I look up, startled by Laney’s voice and even more shocked to see her sitting on my bed. Thank God I put on a towel. “Where’d she go?”

“Home, I guess.” She shrugs. “I didn’t ask. I heard the front door slam and got up to see what the hell was going on. Since you’re here and she’s not, I’m assuming it was her.”

How did I not hear the door slam? Not that I would’ve chased her. “All right, she left. So what’re you doing in here?”

She stands, grabbing some shorts off my floor and throwing them at me. “Go put those on and we’ll talk. Since I’m up,” she reminds me with an evil glare.

I head back in the bathroom to change, and stay in there, locking the door and taking a deep breath. I’m over six feet tall and lift almost every day, but yes, I’m scared to face Laney. Not only is she a hellcat when she wants to be, but I don’t want to see the disgust or disappointment in her eyes. She’s one of my best friends, even more so after becoming roommates, and her opinion means a lot to me.

“Get out here!” she yells when she finally realizes I must be stalling. “Take it like a man.”

I might as well go out there or she’ll undoubtedly come in here, kicking in the door or taking it off the hinges in what I have no doubt would be less than five minutes.

She pats the bed beside her when I open the door. “Come sit down. We’re doing this now.”

I hesitantly take a seat, my knee bouncing as I wait for her to speak.

“First, and of the utmost importance, you know I call my father ‘Daddy,’ so hearing your visitors scream it repeatedly in the middle of the night freaks me out. I wake up thinking I’m in some bad Lifetime movie.”

Fighting my smirk, I agree. "Okay, got it." Maybe this little chat won’t be so bad after all.

"Second," she stands and tucks my extra pillow between the headboard and wall before sitting back down beside me, "on school and game nights, booty call curfew is eleven. That work for you?"

"Yeah." I sigh and run my hands along my head, wishing I had some hair to pull. "It won't happen again, Gidge. I'm sorry."

She places a hand on my shoulder with a small smile. "Don't be sorry. This is your house too and we hadn't talked about it. Now we have, so we're all good. Any rules you want to put in place?"

"Nah, I'm easy."

"Made crystal clear by the parade of women coming in and out of here." She laughs and scoots away quickly, ducking the pillow I grab and swing at her head. “Speaking of which, been busier than usual lately—you trying to make a little Guinness or Gonorrhea?"

Here we go—this is what she really wants to talk about. It was a nice segue, funny even, but I’m on to her.

M. S. Willis has become one of my favorite writers over the course of the last year, and with good reason. She can completely nail ANY genre. I first fell in love with her Control series (aka dominate man, bad ass lead chick, semi-crime and mystery). Then there is her Estate series (out of the realm of anything I've ever read, and I loved every second of it). And now here, we have "Because of Ellison". Her first standalone. Her first "tear-your-heart-out-love-story". The first "ugly-cry" book I've read by her.

And guess what? She NAILED it again. 

The synopsis doesn't give much away, so I wasn't sure what I was getting when I went into this story. But what I got was so much more than I anticipated. 

Hunter is a genius. No really, he's a total genius. Oh, and his parents are loaded, therefore he wasn't just a genius, but he was rich too. But in being so smart, he was bored. Bored with his life, bored with school, basically just throwing himself into the party scene and not looking back. Until his parents decided it would be best for him to spend his last summer before college with his Uncle and Cousin down in Florida, in hopes that learning to live "poor" and without his normal comforts, would bring him out of his party phase. With no choice, off he went, away from his friends, the parties, his (snobby) little girlfriend, and down to the boonies of Florida. 

But he didn't anticipate meeting Ellison.  

"The laughter rolled out of me and I pushed her hand away. 'You're a bitch, you know that?'

'I prefer you call me 'Evil Princess Bitch', thank you very much. Show some respect.'

It was that moment that I realized her smile was absolutely perfect." 

Ellison is a strong and extremely loving girl, whose bad side you do not want to get on. Unfortunately for Hunter, he got on her bad side in .2 seconds of meeting her. This makes for a hilarious start for their.. "relationship".

"That's the thing with Ellison. You never really know. That girl is capable of anything"

Hunter can't seem to get his mind off of the firecracker that is Ellison James, and spends his time trying to figure out ways to get back on her good side. Eventually walls will be broken down, erected back up, cracked again, and so the cycle goes. But Hunter isn't one to give up, and as much as Ellison isn't one to give in, he may just prove to be the one thing that breaks her down. 

"Whatever happens between us will be a mistake. But which would be bigger? The mistake of having been with you... or the mistake of never having allowed myself to love you when I had the chance"?"

Now I get that this sounds like a typical love story, but it isn't. Yes, it's a love story, but it is also a story of family. Hunter, did not grow up with the love from his parents that most kids do. When major turns happen for Ellison, Hunter is the one who realizes that family really should be everything. He finds that family in his uncle, and his cousin. And he finds it in Ellison. 

This book will tear your heart out. But it will also warm your heart with millions of warm fuzzies with all the "lessons" that are learned in this book. The value of family, putting yourself aside for others, growing up, moving on. It was an amazing read, and I REALLY do hope that M. S. Willis writes more like it (hint hint).

"She stopped and turn to me. Shrugging her shoulders, she said, 'No reason.'

Oh shit."

Those must have been fighting words, because the next thing she did was slam her hands against me with such force it almost knocked the air out of my chest.  I tried to hold on, but when she took both my nipples between her fingers and twisted, I released her in response to the pain.

“Fuck!  Ellison, that shit hurt!”

“I know it did, that’s why I did it.  And you can expect that reaction from me every time you think you’re going to overpower and force me to stay still when I don’t want to!”

“Well, then fine!”  I shoved my chest out at her and held my arms out to my sides.  “Go ahead and rip them off then, El, because you can expect that I’m going to hold you every day until you stop breathing!”

She looked at me like I was nuts.  Her voice was a whisper when she asked, “Why can’t you just go home?”

We stood staring at each other for a few seconds.  It was eerily quiet where we stood, almost as if the birds and bugs had stopped to watch, curious to find out what would happen between us.

We locked eyes and I walked up to her.  Grabbing her by her chin, I tilted her angry face up in my direction and held on when she tried to pull away. 

“I am home.  Why can’t you just accept it?”

M.S. Willis is a romance novelist whose debut novel, Control, was released in 2013.  Although currently writing in the romance genre, Willis has plans to expand her literary pursuits into multiple genres and has no fear conquering difficult subject matters in her writing.  Willis is a native Floridian who is also a photographer and musician.  When not absorbing herself in written, visual or musical expression, Willis is an adrenaline junkie, a ‘closet’ video game enthusiast, and an avid outdoors person and nature lover.
