NEW ADULT ROMANTIC SUSPENSE FROM BESTSELLING AUTHOR ELLA JAMES...

Elizabeth DeVille doesn't belong at a party like this - one where the gowns cost more than her Camry and cigars run higher than her grad school utility bills. Dragged out of seclusion by her best friend Suri, Elizabeth is merely playing dress-up, rubbing elbows with a crowd that banished her troubled family years ago.

Hunter West is tired. Tired of parties, tired of pretending, and tired of trying to right a wrong that haunts him every day. Bourbon heir and professional poker player by day, by night Hunter is gambling with his life in a high-stakes game of crime and blackmail.

When Elizabeth stumbles into Hunter's den of vices, she's a light in the darkness, a flame in the void. And, just like everything he touches, Hunter mars her in a record time. To rectify the damage done, Elizabeth needs money she doesn't have, and she's come up with a foolproof way to get it.

Follow Elizabeth - code-named Scarlett - to the lush Nevada brothel where she'll auction her virginity and risk the only thing that's not for sale: her heart. The highest bidder is a familiar face, with wicked hands and the devil's mouth. And a secret so dark that it could cost her life.

**Mature Content Warning** Not recommended for readers under the age of 17 due to mature language, sexual content, and violence.

Selling Scarlett is a full-length novel of 107,000 words. It has a complete happily-ever-after ending with no cliffhanger. It's the first Love Inc. novel, featuring a different couple in each novel.

He needs her trust and with it, her submission.

Excerpt:

He entered holding two coils of leather. Dropping to one knee beside her, he wrapped a belt around her wrists just tight enough to sting.
“Are you sure?”
The care in his simple action stoked the fire of her determination to have him. She was more than ready for this.
“Yes please, Jack,” she grinned.
A smile lit his face and he traced her lip with his thumb. She licked it, sucked on it, and then bit it. A sensual promise of things to come.
He bound her with leeway in the tether to turn over onto her stomach. Using the second belt as a loop around the first, he tied it to the upper rail of the wrought iron head board.
She flexed and tested the straps; the leather creaked in protest, but did not tear. A sharp tug snapped the belts and pinched her, shot a sharp jolt of pain through her wrists that she found exciting. The old metal headboard squealed, but held firm.

The Redemption of Callie and Kayden by Jessica Sorensen Review

From Goodreads:

"The dark secret Kayden has kept hidden for years is out. Worse, he's facing charges for battery. The only way he stands a chance against the charges is if Callie speaks up, something he'll never ask her to do.

Callie knows Kayden is going back to his dark place and desperately wants to save him. But saving him means admitting her secrets aloud. Callie and Kayden are stronger than they think, especially when they're together. Together they move forward, face their demons, and finally start to heal from their traumatic pasts."

My Thoughts:

Holy.. wow.

The Redemption of Callie and Kayden starts off just about a week after we left off in The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden. Kayden is in the hospital, and his secret is out. But, Callie has yet to see him, as he is currently under watch and is only allowed family visitors.

"I was once shattered to pieces, destroyed by the hand of another, but now I feel like I'm beginning to reconnect. Or at least I did feel that way. But when I found Kayden on the floor it felt like part me splintered again."

The journey for all 4 friends in this book is unbelievable. In the current absence of Kayden, it leaves Callie, Seth, and Luke to lean on each other. Everyone seems to be doing their own amount of healing throughout this story. It's amazing to watch all 4 of them begin to overcome their pasts, especially Callie, who in my opinion has made the most progress.

"It'll be all right. It'll be all right. Kayden will be all right.
Because I'm here, dancing, smiling, and sitting between two guys, and if that can happen, then anything is possible."

When Callie and Kayden realize they have done all the healing that they can by themselves, it is time to make some big decisions, that will change the course of their futures. They need support from people outside of eachother, and they need to let others in. The also need to share the truth....

"We'll fall into each other and become one single person and we can share our pain instead of carrying it by ourselves."

The Redemption of Callie and Kayden was the bumpiest road I have ever seen towards healing in a book, and I loved it, because it made it feel so much more real. We delve so much deeper into the lives of, not only Callie and Kayden, but Seth and Luke as well. I loved this book, I really did. It continued their story on in such a believable way, and it flowed flawlessly.

In the first book we saw two broken people too afraid to change, but in this one, we see two mending hearts, trying their damnedest to move forward.

"I need to wake up and really believe everything will be okay instead of just hoping it will be. I want to be one of the lucky ones who has a good life."

We don't leave off at a cliffhanger, per say. Most is resolved by the end of the book, but there are new questions that arise with Luke, which makes me LOVE the fact that book #3 is focused on him. The Destiny of Violet and Luke is due to be out January 7, 2014. There will also be one more story for Callie and Kayden, book #3.5, The Resolution of Callie and Kayden, which currently does not have a release date.
More to come once I know more on either of these.

Also, can I beg for a Seth book? Pretty please?

Here are some awesome books to mark on your list for this summer!

Wallbanger by Alice Clayton

I fell in love with this book by the first page! Unfortunately, I do not have a review up on this one because I read it before I started the blog. This is one hilarious good time read! Curl up in your beach chair and giggle your ass off to this one!
Psst.. you'll even fall in love with the cat...

The Good Life by Jodie Beau

Definitely a new favorite for me! Roxie is an amazingly strong lead character. The lightness and humor in this book gives a perfect balance to the heaviness of the actual story of it. LOVED it! Debut author as well, can't wait for more of her!

April Showers by Karli Perrin

Another perfect book for summer! Amazing story, hilarious main character, and TWO swoon-worthy men! Pick this one up for the beach guys!!

In The Stillness by Andrea Randall

The story line of this book may be a bit heavy for a "summer" reading list, but my god, it is worth it. Hands down one of the best books I have ever read, and is definitely worth reading as soon as humanly possible.

Conflict (Control #2) by M. S. Willis Review

**DO NOT READ THIS IF YOU HAVE NOT READ CONTROL**
Below contains spoilers for Control, which is book 1 in this series.

From GoodReads:

"***Content Warning - This is a new adult fiction with mature themes. It contains graphic sexual situations, mature language and explicit description of sexual violence.***

Conflict is the second book in the Control series. This description contains spoilers for those who have not read book one in the series, entitled Control.

Private Investigator, Paige Stone has always appreciated the independence of her life, however, her world was pitched upside down when she and her roommates were attacked and nearly killed. As a result of the attack by Chris, Paige now finds herself dependent upon Daemon Pierce for a place to live as she hides from Chris. Paige has never lived with a man before and demands that Daemon consider her a "roommate" only, even though it goes against her own desires.

Strong-willed and arrogant, Daemon Pierce has been working hard to protect Paige from Chris and from herself. Letting go of his life as a womanizer, Daemon tries to prove to Paige that she can trust him, even though he refuses to enlighten her as to his past. Daemon struggles to comply with Paige's ridiculous demand to be "roommates" and quickly finds that he has fallen in love with the girl who does nothing but push him away.

Chris is still on the loose and Paige becomes impatient at the amount of time it is taking the authorities to apprehend him. Paige takes it upon herself to hunt Chris down, while still refusing to ask for Daemon's assistance. When Paige discovers a message left by Chris, she devices a plan to locate him while keeping Daemon in the dark as to her plans. Paige's emotional journey once again places her in dangerous situations and when secrets are revealed and decisions are made, Paige has no choice but to look deep within herself to see if she can finally trust the man who will stop at nothing to save her."

My Thoughts:

Conflict starts off 3 weeks after Paige's release from the hospital, after her and her friends were attacked by Chris. As you remember from book 1, she has agreed to move in with Daemon, temporarily, on a "roommates only" policy. I'm sure you can imagine how well that agreement will (not) work out. It is not long before Daemon truly realizes his feelings for Paige, and Paige lets a few more of her walls collapse. She does however, try her hardest to keep him at arms length.. well.. most of the time.

Buddy was almost a backstory in the first book, and a lot of speculation was made about him. Conflict actually digs a lot deeper into Paige and Buddy's relationship. Over time, Paige starts to question the validity of her memories of Buddy, because her dreams are not lining up with her memories.

"I trusted Buddy for the most part, but he frightened me when he got mad. On the days they made him talk about himself, he acted so differently than the playful boy I knew."

Paige has put Buddy on a pedestal, and always regarded him with such.. infatuation. Buddy is almost an obsession for Paige, something she is not willing to ever let go of. A lot of her life has been based around her feelings for Buddy, and a bunch of her walls were put up because of him.

"Most people grow up and let go of frivolous childhood fantasies, I held on to Buddy's memory like it was the only thing that mattered to me."

Something.. changed.. for me with this book. Daemon, who I have always rooted for (and don't get me wrong, I still root for him), became almost overbearing. While I understand his reasons for wanting to "control" Paige, he was more than overwhelming at times, and I found myself siding with Paige moreso in Conflict than I did in Control.

"I did not teach you what I did just so you could become so guarded, you would allow yourself to be used."

..ooooh the suggestions in that line..

When it has been well over a month, with still no sign of Chris, and one of her friends still in a terrible place, Paige takes it upon herself to conduct her own search. The only thing standing in her way, Daemon. She has to find a way to get around Daemon, and his vow to keep her under lock and key, and figure out a plan. This is the point where I start seriously rooting again for Daemon, because not only does he want to protect her from Chris, he wants to protect her from herself.

"My present position was between a rock and a hard Daemon and I had to come up with some way to assert my autonomy while not stepping on the toes of the man who wanted nothing more but to keep me safe."

Delivering another round of huge twists, and not just the one (most) people are expecting, and another semi-cliffhanger ending, M. S. Willis has left me screaming for book 3!!

Come on September!!

Conquer, book 3 in the Control Series, will be available September 1, 2013

Collide by Gail McHugh Review

From GoodReads:

"A missed first encounter…

Colliding with a second chance…

On the heels of graduating college and trying to cope with her mother’s death, Emily Cooper moves to New York City for a fresh start.

While harboring secrets of his own, Dillon Parker takes care of Emily through her grief. Knowing he can’t live without her by his side, he’s sweet, thoughtful, and everything Emily has ever wanted in a man.

Until she meets Gavin Blake—a rich and notorious playboy who is dangerously sexy and charming as hell. Emily tries to deny the instant connection she feels, but Mr. Tall, Dark, and Handsome is not inclined to let go so easily. Recovering from his own painful past, Gavin will stop at nothing to win Emily over.

This unexpected encounter compels Emily to question her decisions, forcing her to make a choice that will destroy friendships, shatter hearts, and forever change her life"

My Thoughts:

Collide is one non stop rollercoaster ride of emotions. From one page to the next you could thrilled that things are working out exactly how they should, to devastated when yet another thing gets in their way. It is a non-stop-can't-put-this-down read.

Emily's mother has passed away from cancer, and she has nothing left for her in her home town, so she decides to move to NYC to be closer to her boyfriend, Dillon, and move in with her best friend Olivia.

"As he held her hand, Dillon leaned over and stroked a piece of her hair away from her face. 'Everything is going to be all right, Em.' he whispered."

In the beginning I wanted to like Dillon, I really did. And actually, I did like him.. for a short period of time. VERY short. Though Emily thinks that Dillon can do no wrong, and is absolutely perfect, she finds out soon that taking a long-distance relationship to an every day normal relationship leaves the door open for hidden lies and secrets to come out.

Gavin.. ahh Gavin.. Mr. Tall, Dark, and Fuckable Handsome. A man with secrets all of his own. A man who does NOT give up when he finds something that he so desperately wants.
A chance encounter with Gavin has Emily questioning everything in her relationship with Dillon.

"I don't know. It was just the strangest reaction I've ever had with someone. And talk about embarrassed at the way I handled myself. A preschooler would've done better."

When Emily realizes who Gavin really is, her life is, once again, turned upside down. This is a book where you get to know each and every character on their own, and every single one of them is intertwined. Lies and relationships threaten to tear this group of friends apart. It's a semi-panic-attack every time someone else lets out a little bit of truth, or something happens that could possibly make all of their lives change.

Collide has twist after twist, and a super mega cliff hanger. This is another "I read this before I started this blog", so I went back and re-read it in anticipation for Pulse. It was worth every month that I had waited and waited for Pulse, book 2 in the series, which is now available! So guess what my next review will be.. :)

Favorite Quote of the book:

"Isn't it amazing - the paths that bring people together?....Fate and the roads that get placed in front of us. It's like one huge puzzle that ultimately fits in the end."
