*BLOG TOUR* "Devil's Food" by Heather Cleveland

One impulse, one decision, one gamble can change your life forever. A stranger opens your door. You exchange a glance across a busy room. You answer a wrong number. And suddenly your life is entwined with someone else's. Your paths have crossed, and you are connected to another human being. What if that person stays in your life? What if that relationship is still important to you in ten, twenty, fifty years? You could meet that person today.
Luckily for Patrick Dunne, he takes a chance, and for once, it pays off.
Life hasn't been easy for Patrick. After years of destructive behavior, he fi- nally pulls himself together only to have his world destroyed again. Now he's dealing with the anxiety. The anger. The guilt. Only his passion for cooking is keeping him from drowning.
With his supportive younger brother, Colin, the Irish natives own Ristorante Fratelli, a chic Italian bistro. It has the makings of one of Denver's best res- taurants—or so says local blogger and critic, Greta Levine—as long as head chef, Patrick Dunne, can control his temper. After an insulting and patroniz- ing encounter, Greta writes a review admonishing his behavior, sending Pat- rick into a final spiral.
But a wrong number saves him. Fueled by the anonymity, they begin tex- ting, deliberately avoiding details of their "real" lives. A deep bond grows, and against all odds, they become each other's saving grace. Until he discov- ers his mystery lady's true identity...
Rounded out by a cast of lovable—and delightfully flawed—supporting characters, Devil's Food chronicles the connections we, as humans, crave and sometimes overlook.
Devil’s Food debuted as a Holiday Fiction Bestseller on Amazon.

GRETA WAS ABSORBED IN a romance novel, tears brimming as the hero professed his eternal love, when she was jolted back to reality by a terse knock on the door.  She cursed under her breath and tossed her Kindle aside.  She’d never get that moment back.  She detested interruptions while she was reading, especially at the best part.
Fueled by irritation, Greta pulled the door open without bothering to look through the peephole.  She sucked in a panicked breath when she was met by the intrusive cobalt eyes of Patrick Dunne.  Her survival instincts pulsed with alarm, and she tried to slam the door in defense.  But a powerful shoulder braced against it, jarring her body with the unexpected collision.
“You are not welcome here,” she fumed as she futilely threw herself against the door.
“I’m not welcome?”  His voice was indignant.  “You’re the one who just dragged me through the mud, lady.  And I see you are too much of a coward to face me.  You can print trash about me when you’re hiding behind your computer, but when you have to own up to it, you’re not so brave, are you?”
Greta wasn’t about to take his shit again.  She flung the door open, and Patrick stumbled into the entryway, nearly falling face down on the tiled floor.  “I did not invite you in,” Greta screeched.  After regaining his balance, Patrick met her glare with equal contempt and returned to the other side of the threshold.  “As for standing behind what I wrote, I absolutely do.  Everything I said was true, and I don’t regret it for a minute.  But, Mr. Dunne, you don’t seem to learn from your mistakes.  Here you are insulting me again, only this time you came to my home.  Have you no shame?”
“Believe it or not, Ms. Levine,” he spat her name, “I did not come here to insult you.  I came to tell you that what you did today could ruin not only me but my brother, who is innocent in all this.  When people read what you said, they aren’t going to come to Fratelli’s to make their own judgment.  They’re just going to assume that you know what you’re talking about.  And who the hell are you to tell people what to do anyway?”  His temper was rising, and Greta wasn’t sure what he might do.  She started to back away from the looming figure, but he lunged at her, wrapping strong hands around her biceps and holding her firmly in place.  Her heart beat like a drum in her chest, and she tried to wipe the look of fear from her face.  “You have no right to play with people’s lives like this.  You might have destroyed us today.  Do you get that?”
Greta held his stare with one just as cold.  “All I did was write what happened.  You are responsible for the rest.  If people stop going to Fratelli’s, it’s because your ego was bruised and you couldn’t keep your mouth shut.  If your restaurant goes out of business and your brother loses everything, that’s on you.  You have no one to blame but yourself.”  She ended with an emphatic nod, proud that she hadn’t crumbled under pressure.
The grip on her arms loosened, and Greta watched as his eyes filled with anguish.  His head dropped abruptly, and she thought for a moment that he might collapse on her.  Feeling a pang of compassion, she reached out to steady him, and he jumped at the touch.  As if realizing for the first time that he was restraining her, he pulled away, his eyes cloudy and disoriented.  He stumbled backward, pushing through the door to the stairwell.  Greta watched him go, shoulders slumped and threatening presence replaced by a broken, tormented soul.

I wanted to be an actress for a long time until I realized it wasn't so much the acting that I loved but the storytelling. (But don't get me wrong, if someone offered me a dream role in a movie, I'd take it.) So I've lovingly returned to my childhood pastime of writing, only now my novels come to life on my computer screen rather than being scrawled in a spiral notebook. And thank goodness for that, or it'd take me a year to finish the editing process.

I'm active in our local theatre scene (on the management side now). I love traveling, playing games, gardening, and checking items off my bucket list--last accomplishment: learn to sew; next up: milk a cow. If you asked my friends to describe me, I think they'd say I am a little quirky and an old soul.

I live north of Denver with my very supportive husband. He is vital to my writing process--serving as web designer, sounding board, walking thesaurus, and reality check.

*BLOG TOUR* "Finding Home" by Aine Kelley

Can two broken people help each other learn to love again and find their way home?

For Samantha Cole, love and relationships have never come easy. Pain and heartbreak have forced her to build a wall around herself. Hoping to start over, Sam leaves Boston behind and moves to Napa with her best friend. Trying to make better choices in love, Sam establishes rules to keep her heart safe. Little does she know that one man will challenge her and change her mind. He has the potential to break down her walls and bring her heart back home.

Ben Foster has been dealing with heartache and guilt for the past two years, believing he lost his only chance at love. Pounding guys on the Rugby field and running the family winery get him through the pain. When Sam arrives the fog over his life slowly lifts. He wonders if she is the one who can help his heart find a new way home.

Letting go of the past and moving forward is not always easy. Their connection is strong, but their pasts keep getting in the way. Will Sam and Ben's journey tear them apart or help them find a place to call home?

Looking up into her moist eyes I pull her close to me. Our arms hug each other with a fierceness that’s getting rid of every loose fragment of damage. We’re expelling each and every bad memory and all the shit that’s fucked us up. “I don’t want to let you go. Can we stay like this for a little while longer?” Her head nods on my shoulder as she sinks deeper into our embrace.
“You feel incredible in my arms. I never thought much about guardian angels, but I think you’ve been sent just for me. Your arms wrapping around me make everything go away.”
Sam’s arms grip me with even more vigor. I feel her breath and lips tickle my ear as she turns her head into the crook of my neck. Feather light kisses touch my neck and earlobe as she whispers; “You’re wrong Ben; you’re my angel. You make me believe that love can exist.” Her head pulls back but her arms stay firmly in place. “Your voice brought light into my life when all I could see was darkness. When I’m all alone, it’s your voice that I hear when I drift off to sleep at night.”
I turn and press my lips onto hers tenderly and hold them there for several seconds before breaking away. We stay holding each other well into the night. Finally, her breaths change and I realize she’s fallen asleep on my shoulder. I gently shift her body close and place one arm underneath her legs to pick her up. She stirs slightly and turns her head into the curve of my neck and inhales deeply. “Mmm, you smell so good.”
I hold her against me as I chuckle, “Oh yeah? It’s a combination of sweat, wine, and you.”
Sighing she lifts her head with her eyes still closed. “How is it you know to say the exact thing a woman likes to hear?”
“I don’t know about that. I guess you bring it out of me.”
We get into the truck, and I buckle her up. I fight off the images of the accident and instead focus on Sam.  I listen to her steady breaths and watch her sleep. She hypnotizes me.  I’m captivated by her heart, beauty and soul. Her capacity to let me in is remarkable and humbling especially when I don’t think I deserve it. Home has to feel a lot like this because I can’t imagine living anywhere else.

*BLOG TOUR* "Finding You" by S. K. Hartley

FindingMe_TourBanner

The lines are blurred between what is real and what isn't, the darkness that was once a place I feared was now a place of safety. If I stayed in the darkness, the hellish reality of what was truly happening no longer seemed real.
But I was about to be pulled out from under the consuming blanket of dark shadows, and plunged into the murky depths of my past. I was about to be shown my demons and all it's evil sides, all of it's pain and grief. I could only hope I survive it.
What happens when the world you once knew crumbles and falls at your feet? Who will find me? Who will save me from my demons?
My dark prince or my white knight...
And will I find myself in the process.

"Neva, don't walk away from me!" Logan spits.
He is angry. What right did he have to be angry with me? I wasn't the one flirting with another girl. Why was he even here anyway? "Go away, Logan!" I say, walking faster.
Suddenly my arms are latched to my back and I am being spun around. My heartbeat picks up around twenty notches as I come eye to eye with Logan.
"Why the hell are you always running from me? I can't take it when you run from me!"
"I'm not doing this now. Let me go." I say, trying to get my wrist free from his grasp.
"No, we are doing this now. Why the hell did you run?"
"We're all running from something, Logan." I spit, repeating Dex's words.
"You still don't get it do you? How much clearer do I need to be for you to understand that I'm not going anywhere? I have been in love with you for ten years, Neva! Ten years. It isn't just going to go away!"
"I never asked you to love me! Why are you doing this to me?" "Because I hate seeing you fall and not get back up. I want to be the one to catch you, but you keep pushing me away!"
"What do you want from me?" I whisper.
"You. Just you. All of you. Every broken piece."
I bow my head. He releases my wrists from behind my back, and they drop to my side. I can't give him what he wants. I just can't do it. I will break him. Christ, I break myself on a daily basis.
"I can't give you that." I say, taking a step back.
"I'm not giving you up without a fight, Neva. You can't just walk away from us!"
"I am protecting you the only way I know how."
"I don't need protecting. What part of me looks like it needs protecting?"
"Your heart." I whisper. I gulp back the tears that were begging to release. I would not cry. But every time I pushed back that feeling, it hurt just a little bit more.
"You're breaking it right now." He whispers, taking a step towards me.
"I will break it over and over again, Logan. My nightmares will hurt you, my fear of people being ripped away from me will gut you, and my anxiety will spike yours."
"I can take pain, Neva. I had dealt with it for the past three weeks. I would rather have the pain with you, than without you."
"I … I." The words are at the tip of my tongue. Waiting to release, but I know if I say them, everything will change. Nothing will be the same and I will drag him into the pit of hell where my heart lies and my nightmares are real.
"I can't."

*BLOG TOUR* + Review "Because Of Ellison" by M. S. Willis

When I was nineteen years old, I lived for sex, drugs and a good party. I had it all - good looks, a fast car and a hot girlfriend. Nothing in life was more important.

That was, until I met Ellison James….

Since the moment I first saw her she was a raging bull; tackling me in the mud and throwing out insults as fast as her tongue could form the sound.

She was snarky
She was rude
And she pissed me off like no other woman could.

I lived beside her for a summer and in the three months that I walked by her side...

She opened my eyes
She changed my life
And she made me a better man

M. S. Willis has become one of my favorite writers over the course of the last year, and with good reason. She can completely nail ANY genre. I first fell in love with her Control series (aka dominate man, bad ass lead chick, semi-crime and mystery). Then there is her Estate series (out of the realm of anything I've ever read, and I loved every second of it). And now here, we have "Because of Ellison". Her first standalone. Her first "tear-your-heart-out-love-story". The first "ugly-cry" book I've read by her.
And guess what? She NAILED it again.

The synopsis doesn't give much away, so I wasn't sure what I was getting when I went into this story. But what I got was so much more than I anticipated.

Hunter is a genius. No really, he's a total genius. Oh, and his parents are loaded, therefore he wasn't just a genius, but he was rich too. But in being so smart, he was bored. Bored with his life, bored with school, basically just throwing himself into the party scene and not looking back. Until his parents decided it would be best for him to spend his last summer before college with his Uncle and Cousin down in Florida, in hopes that learning to live "poor" and without his normal comforts, would bring him out of his party phase. With no choice, off he went, away from his friends, the parties, his (snobby) little girlfriend, and down to the boonies of Florida.

But he didn't anticipate meeting Ellison.

"The laughter rolled out of me and I pushed her hand away. 'You're a bitch, you know that?'
'I prefer you call me 'Evil Princess Bitch', thank you very much. Show some respect.'
It was that moment that I realized her smile was absolutely perfect."

Ellison is a strong and extremely loving girl, whose bad side you do not want to get on. Unfortunately for Hunter, he got on her bad side in .2 seconds of meeting her. This makes for a hilarious start for their.. "relationship".

"That's the thing with Ellison. You never really know. That girl is capable of anything"

Hunter can't seem to get his mind off of the firecracker that is Ellison James, and spends his time trying to figure out ways to get back on her good side. Eventually walls will be broken down, erected back up, cracked again, and so the cycle goes. But Hunter isn't one to give up, and as much as Ellison isn't one to give in, he may just prove to be the one thing that breaks her down.

"Whatever happens between us will be a mistake. But which would be bigger? The mistake of having been with you... or the mistake of never having allowed myself to love you when I had the chance"?"

Now I get that this sounds like a typical love story, but it isn't. Yes, it's a love story, but it is also a story of family. Hunter, did not grow up with the love from his parents that most kids do. When major turns happen for Ellison, Hunter is the one who realizes that family really should be everything. He finds that family in his uncle, and his cousin. And he finds it in Ellison.

This book will tear your heart out. But it will also warm your heart with millions of warm fuzzies with all the "lessons" that are learned in this book. The value of family, putting yourself aside for others, growing up, moving on. It was an amazing read, and I REALLY do hope that M. S. Willis writes more like it (hint hint).

Favorite Quote:

"She stopped and turn to me. Shrugging her shoulders, she said, 'No reason.'
Oh shit."

Those must have been fighting words, because the next thing she did was slam her hands against me with such force it almost knocked the air out of my chest.  I tried to hold on, but when she took both my nipples between her fingers and twisted, I released her in response to the pain.

“Fuck!  Ellison, that shit hurt!”

“I know it did, that’s why I did it.  And you can expect that reaction from me every time you think you’re going to overpower and force me to stay still when I don’t want to!”
“Well, then fine!”  I shoved my chest out at her and held my arms out to my sides.  “Go ahead and rip them off then, El, because you can expect that I’m going to hold you every day until you stop breathing!”

She looked at me like I was nuts.  Her voice was a whisper when she asked, “Why can’t you just go home?”

We stood staring at each other for a few seconds.  It was eerily quiet where we stood, almost as if the birds and bugs had stopped to watch, curious to find out what would happen between us.

We locked eyes and I walked up to her.  Grabbing her by her chin, I tilted her angry face up in my direction and held on when she tried to pull away.

“I am home.  Why can’t you just accept it?”
