*BLOG TOUR* "Let Me Love" by Michelle Lynn

SYNOPSIS:

A chance encounter. An undeniable connection. An unimaginable twist of fate.

Kailey’s life is crumbling. Her best friend and sister, Jen, is dying, leaving her young family devastated. With little hope of saving her, Kailey is forced to face a reality she never expected.

Trey’s life is fun and carefree. He loves the girls, his drums, and his friends. That’s not to say he isn’t continuously plagued by a difficult decision made years ago—one that changed the course of his life.

Despite the connection they make when their paths unexpectedly cross, Kailey knows her life has no room for anyone else right now. But regardless of how many times she pushes him away, Trey only fights harder to make a place for him in her life and in her heart.

Trey thought he knew heartbreak, but he had no idea until life gave him a second chance, only to snatch it away just as fast. This time he’s determined to keep his place in the life of the ones he loves.

Is there such a thing as fate? If so, can Kailey and Trey hold on to one another long enough to discover there’s no such thing as a chance encounter?

Michelle Lynn, has definitely become one of my all time favorites. And I have to say, she BROUGHT IT with this book. Think you loved The Invisibles before? Think again.. Because "Let Me Love" just brought this series to a wholeeee new level.
"I just lied to the only man I would ever love."
This is Trey's story. Trey quickly became my favorite of the group as soon as he was introduced. I figured I would spent the entire book swooning over Trey's sarcasm, hilarious antic's, and general bad-boy-ness. I did, but it was more than that. HE was more than that. And we get a really indepth look into his secrets, his past, his feelings, and his love. Add Kailey into the mix? With her own completely different set of life issues and challenges? One. Amazing. Book. AND, one amazing love story.
" 'Ding, Ding, Ding. One for tat-boy.' She holds her finger up, making a line in the air. Man, I just found the female version of me."
We met Kailey in Let Me In, and were left with a bunch of questions. No worries, all of them get answered, and then some.  You know from the synopsis what Kailey's biggest challenge will be, the potential loss of her sister. But there is so much more to it. So much unexpected.

I'm not going to even try to say that this book is an all around happy story. It's not. It's the realest book of the series (and you all know how much I LOVE this series). It's heartbreaking. It's happy. And then it's not anymore. And then it is. And then BOOM, curveball. BAM, another curveball. You will be laughing entirely too hard one second, and sobbing your heart out the next. I loved every single second of this book. I didn't want it to end. I still don't want it to have ended. It was amazing.

You want twists and turns and then MORE twists and MORE turns? Grab this book. And note: It can absolutely be read as a stand alone. Sure, it would help if you knew who all of the other characters were, but it is written in such a way that even if you haven't read the other books, this story would still make complete sense. So if you're a Michelle Lynn newbie? Start with this book. Then, because I KNOW you're going to fall in love with it, go back and read Don't Let Go and Let Me In. Or hey, just pick up the whole series and read it in order. Why? Because you're missing out on an amazing story, a group of friends you will want to be apart of, and some phenomenal writing.

EXCERPT:

I curl my knees up to my chest, shivering, my face glued to the couch. I peel my mouth away from the leather, wiping the drool as I sit up. Shit, it’s cold in this state. Staring at the practically empty bottle of Jack sitting on the coffee table, regret hits me. I’ll be useless for the rest of today. That is, until I can drown myself into another bottle tonight.

After I stand up, I attempt to steady myself by holding my arms out, like a toddler on a balance beam, willing the room stop swirling. “He’s down here,” Dex screams up the stairs.

“Shit, quiet the fuck down,” I tell him, and he laughs boisterously. Jackass!

“What the hell, man? We’ve been searching all over for you,” he says, plopping himself on the couch.

“Well, you found me,” I say, sitting back down, grateful for the excuse not to move for the time being.

“You got to get it together. We’re going to that party at Sam’s tonight. Screw Kailey, there’ll be plenty of girls begging to have your dick tonight.” Dex’s attempt to pull me from this funk, only reminds me of who Kailey thinks I am.

“Shut the hell up, Hulk.” Brady smacks Dex across the back of his head. He tosses me a bottle of water and sits on the other side of me.

“Just because you and Grant have gone all in, doesn’t mean the rest of us want one pussy for the rest of our lives,” Dex adds with humor in his voice.

“Grow up,” Brady says and picks up the nearly empty bottle in front of him. “If this,” he waves it in the air, “and fucking a different pussy every chance you get is being single, then I’m more than happy where my dick lands every night,” he finishes, setting the bottle back down.

“Save us the whole commitment is the best speech,” Dex banters back.

Brady stares Dex down in annoyance while all the back and forth makes my headache a little more intense.

“If she has you doing this, she must be worth it.” Brady cocks an eyebrow at me, and I stare back at him, already recognizing he’s right, but no way in hell am I going to admit it to him.

“Shit,” I mumble, and Brady drones his fatherly know it all ‘uh huh’ under his breath. Cocky bastard.  Standing up, I take the steps two at a time. Right before I reach the top, I hear Brady and Dex talking.

“You give shitty advice,” Brady tells Dex.

“Fuck off, Mrs. Sadie Miller,” Dex says in return. “He’s gonna become pussy whipped, just like your ass.”

“And believe me, he’ll be happier,” Brady adds. As I reach the main floor, I pray Brady’s right.

*BLOG TOUR* "Her Master's Courtesan" by Lily White

Okay. Deep Breaths. I can write this review.. I can write this review..

First of all, if you are not okay with DARK stories, I mean super dark stories (rape/abuse), where you question yourself for actually enjoying them because they are SO DARK, then rethink reading this. I thought I knew dark stories, I didn't. Not until I read this book.

This is the type of story that will have your insides completely twisting, yet have you completely intrigued.

"I make you love me, or at least, I make you believe that you do. I don't want love, I don't make love."

This isn't a happy story. It's not your typical "omg I HATE this guy" in the beginning and "aww I love him" by the end. No, I HATED this guy the entire time. I straight up wanted to punch the Master in the face. I wanted to shake Rebecca and tell her to run, run as far as humanly possible away from this guy. But at the same time, I understood both of them. IT MAKES NO SENSE. My head is still all screwed up from this book.

"Your right to anything and everything has been stripped - your thoughts, your emotions, your choice, and possibly your life - none of those are yours any longer. And you are not a slave, you are a courtesan. It would be best that you learned the difference."

The writing, was phenomenal. Seriously, it was amazing. It made me feel like I was right in the room with them, watching everything happen. Which made this book hit 1,000 times harder. But that was definitely a good thing. Just writing something dark to write a dark story, anyone can attempt that. But that wouldn't even compare to someone who is writing the a dark story, in such a way, that you feel like you are IN the story itself. And that's what Lily White did. She threw you right into the story.

If you're a fan of dark reads, get this NOW. If you're unsure if you like dark reads, make this one your first, because seriously, I haven't read darker than this. Her Master's Courtesan was twisted, tortured, disturbing, and I could NOT put it down. Well okay, I may have taken a few quick "I need to catch my breath, and slow my heart" breaks, but other than that, completely un-put-downable.

Lily White Bio:  Lily White is a dark writer who likes to dabble on the taboo side of eroticism.  Most of the time she can be found wandering around aimlessly while her mind is stuck in some twisted power play between two characters in her head. You may recognize her in public by the confused expression, random mumbling, and occasional giggle while thinking up a scene. Lily’s favorite things in life are reading, thinking about reading, buying books for reading….and writing. Her other secret pleasure is meeting with her plot editor in public to discuss her books and watching the shocked expressions of the people around her that don’t realize she’s talking about a book.  When Lily is not reading, writing, wandering or freaking out innocent bystanders, she’s sleeping.

I am a Master.

You must know this fact to understand my story.

I capture women.

I break them down.

And I rebuild them.

If they are lucky, they are sold into the professional hands of another Master. If they are less fortunate, they are buried beneath the ground, never to be thought of again.

I lust for the control, I demand absolute submission and my body yearns to warp the minds of those I train.

Power is the only thing I’ll ever need and I am addicted to the feeling of ultimate control.

I am wealthy, good-looking, educated and charming.

And I am - in no way - a good man.

I do not want love.
I do not want kindness.

She thought she could change me by giving me the two things I knew I never wanted.

She was wrong.

*REVIEW* "Ruin" by Rachel Van Dyken

I'm not your typical girl. I've been running away from the memories that haunt me for so long that depression has become my only comfort. I was content in the darkness...until Wes Michals offered to be my light.

I didn't know that time wasn't my ally -- that every second that ticked past was one step closer to the end of something that was beginning to mean the end of myself. He tried to warn me. He promised me all he was able to offer--each moment as it came--but it would never be enough.

Sometimes when you think it's the end, it's only the beginning. Wes thought he could save me, but in giving me everything, he ruined me. Because after one kiss, one touch, I couldn't--I wouldn't ever be the same.

And from that moment on, his heartbeat became my own.

I've had been wanting to read Ruin for a long time. I had heard nothing but amazing things about it. I posted up on the blog facebook that I wanted a book that was going to tear me apart, and make me cry ugly tears. Ruin was suggested by half of the people on that thread. I looked at the synopsis, and wasn't totally sure what I was getting into. I, literally, only knew that it was this amazing book that everyone loved. I had no idea how it was going to tear me to pieces. It was beautiful. It had me laughing, and smiling, and sobbing. It was absolutely amazing.

God, okay, I barely know where to start here. The synopsis doesn't give a lot away, and I'm trying not to either.

Wes and Kiersten.
I feel for Wes' just as fast as Kiersten did. There's just something about him that draws you in from the second he says his first words in this book. He's hilarious, and adorable, and portrayed as the bad boy, and you're just immediately drawn to him, you want more of him.
" 'Weston." He held out his hand. 'And you are?'
Screwed. 'Kiersten.' "
From the first time Wes and Kiersten meet, there are sparks. Adorable little giggling sparks. Where you almost don't see what direction this is going to go. Kiersten is stand-offish because of her own demons, and Wes lives for today. The two of them together are from two different worlds. It definitely makes for one hilarious introduction.

Gabe and Lisa.
My god these two are a riot. I LOVE them. You will fall for Gabe's humor in a second flat, and Lisa is the best roommate that Kiersten could have had. Together they work to break Kiersten out of her shell, and bring Wes closer to her.
" 'Did you just compare your sexual prowess to Chuck Norris' karate skills.' I asked.
'Same thing.' Gabe shrugged. "
Now, everything seems good. Wes and Kiersten are building up something amazing. Lisa is her happy crazy bubbly self. Gabe is hysterical and (I love him) keeping the humor flowing. These 4 friends are building an amazing bond, and nothing can touch it.
Until everything falls out from under them.
Until life happens.
Until it's not perfect anymore, and everything gets too real.
"There may come a time in your life when your heart will have to beat for mine... but you'll have to carry on if I can't."
It was, seriously, a punch to the chest. The turn this book takes from making me laugh and giggle and root for the couple, just halts. I had to put the book down, pick it back up, remember to breathe, and let the tears flow, because that was the only way I was able to comprehend what I was reading. There's a build up to it, it's not just BOOM-here-you-go, but no matter how many times I told myself "I was recommended this book because it was going to make me cry", it couldn't have prepared me for the depth of this story.  It goes so much deeper than I had anticipated, to the point that you have NO idea how it's going to all end up. There's a bunch of roads this story could take, and I wasn't mentally prepared for any of them. It makes you feel, REALLY really feel, for the characters. You laugh with them, cry with them, heal with them, and move along right along with them.
"Maybe it's not the perfection of life that makes things make sense, but the chaos."
I am officially making it a mission to read everything by Rachel Van Dyken. Seriously, the writing was phenomenal, the build up was amazing, the story was heart wrenching in the most beautiful way possible. And I loved absolutely every second of it. I was sucked in from page 2, and didn't want to put it down, AT ALL. If you want an amazing story, with humor, and love, and morals, and friendship, and family, and a twist, and tears, and laughter, and ALLLL the good stuff, READ THIS BOOK.

ABOUT ALL GOOD THINGS
Goodreads Link: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18585830-all-good-things

All Good Things…
are wild and free.
This is going to be the best summer ever! Bonfires, pool parties, trips to the beach, throwing her arms in the air while riding down the open road in a convertible – she’s going to do it all.
Roxie has plans. It’s the last summer before college graduation. By this time next year she’ll be living in the “real” world; ie: paying bills, searching for a job that doesn’t require an apron, and maybe even sleeping on a bed that doesn’t turn into a couch. If there’s ever a time to be fun, irresponsible and reckless, it’s now.
But things don’t always go as planned.
Before the summer has even started, Roxie makes a discovery that breaks her heart and shatters her confidence. Her hopes of having the Best Summer Ever go straight in the trash. Forget the beach. Forget the bonfires. Forget summer altogether.
If only her childhood friend, Jake, would let her be. His contagious smile keeps popping up and dragging her to every social event in Ann Arbor. Reluctant at first, his happy-go-lucky attitude becomes an addiction. It isn’t long before Roxie starts to wonder if her longtime friend might be the perfect cure for her heartbreak. This summer might be good after all.
But All Good Things…
must come to an end.
**All Good Things is an NA prequel to the contemporary 2013 release The Good Life. The books can be read in either order, or as stand-alones.**

All. Good. Things.
For the record.. I have been waiting for this book since the SECOND I finished "The Good Life". Jodie Beau was actually one of the first authors I met when I entered blog-land. The Good Life was also one of the first books that I completely freaked out over on my blog. I've been dying for more Jake and Roxie, and I got it in this book. I'm not sure I can totally explain what All Good Things did to me, but it was amazing. It brought me back to endless summers, carefree nights, and first loves. And we finally get to see how it all happened between Jake and Roxie. Think you couldn't fall in love with Jake any more? Wrong. So wrong.
"My dad is an ass. My mom is a jerk. But I changed my mind about Roxie. I'm glad she's not my real sister. Because I just noticed for the first time how blue her eyes are. She's actually kind of amazing."
Throughout The Good Life, I always had it in the back of my head that it was Roxie chasing, and Jake running. I didn't expect that both of them would be running to and from each other at any given time. Their story, is SO adorably young love, that I'm pretty sure that anyone out there can relate.
"I'm just waiting for the right one. When all the newness wears off and she stops shaving and starts wearing boring underwear that doesn't even match, and I still want to be around her, I'll stop. It just hasn't happened yet."
It was fun, playful, endearing, sad, beautiful, frustrating, sweet, and adorable. It was absolutely all things Jake and Roxie.
"Jake and I had a high level of comfort between us, too, but it was a different kind. We had a more subtle type of intimacy. We could say anything to each other, no matter how embarrassing or persona. We could fight with confidence because we knew we would always make up. We could tease without hurting. We could be at our best or at our worst and knew the other wasn't going anywhere."
This book made me miss college summers, HARD. It was driving until you felt better. Living in the moment. Making your own moments. Falling for someone without a safety net. Finding yourself. And it makes you feel, seriously FEEL, so good inside. It also makes you laugh your ass off in typical Jake and Roxie style. But we all know how this chapter of their life ended. We all know where The Good Life picked up. And even though I saw it coming, it still hit so hard. I actually cried. I KNEW it was coming, and I still cried. I'm not sure if I cried more for Jake and Roxie, or if I cried because of all the memories that this book brought back for me. But either way, Jodie, yet again, has managed to send me on an emotional rollercoaster that I never wanted to get off.

If you haven't read The Good Life yet, go read it. Read it now. Read it YESTERDAY. Want to talk about nailing your "debut novel", Jodie Beau did it with bells on with The Good Life. If you haven't picked up All Good Things yet, DO IT. Trust me. You're missing out if you don't read this series.

Favorite Quote:
"A lot of times we don't realize something special is happening until the moment is long gone. This time I now it. I hope I can find a way to keep this image with me until the end of time."

I was a bad drunk. Everyone had that one friend that needed a babysitter when drinking. That was me. I was that friend. Embarrassing, but true.
I didn’t drink often, but when I did, I didn’t know when to stop. It wasn’t because I was a total lush – but I got so uncomfortable around crowds and used the alcohol to loosen up. Sometimes (okay, fine, most times) I got a little too loosened up. On bad nights I ended up fondled by strangers, passed out on a bathroom floor, or carried out of a bar by bouncers. On better nights you’d find me telling a whole group of complete strangers my theory that oral sex was the answer to World Peace. And on no morning-after had I ever woken up and thought to myself, Wow, what a respectable young woman I was last night. Nope. Never.
I’d embarrassed myself on too many occasions to count, and I was hoping not to add another at my own ‘Welcome Home’ party.
“Can you do me a favor?” I asked Jake after my second martini. It was approaching nine, not even dark yet and I was already buzzing.
“What’s up?” he asked from behind the bar.
“Can you please start making my drinks a little weaker? Or a lot weaker? It’s still early, and I’d like to have some of my dignity left in the morning.”
“That’s not going to be very fun for the rest of us,” he said with a straight face. “These people didn’t come here tonight to welcome back their prim and proper weak-drink-drinking friend. They came for the show they’ve learned to expect.”
It wasn’t very nice, but it was funny. I was buzzed enough to laugh at my own expense. “I don’t want to pull out all my tricks on the first night,” I replied. “I need to save some for the next party.”
“No shit, you’ve got tricks now? I should have charged a cover.”
I laughed and shook my head at him. “Can you please just have my back tonight?”
He slid another martini over to me. I took a sip of the noticeably weaker drink and smiled. “Thank you.”
“No problem. I’ve got my money on you keeping your bikini top on until at least midnight. If we work on it together, we can split the pot.”
I sipped my martini and hoped he was kidding.

I'm a wife, mom, waitress, book nerd, Chapstick addict, and a really bad driver who still believes in happy endings and can't walk in high heels. Writing is what I do when I'm avoiding other things...like cleaning.

I once had big dreams of being a Hollywood screenwriter. But then I met a boy and got distracted. Three years later we met another boy, this one even cuter. The three of us are now living happily ever after in the Detroit area. All Good Things is my second novel. And our house is kind of a mess :)
