Jaylee been
acting all kind of crazy lately – he getting up early- smiling all the time – I
feel like all I seen are his perfect teeth and that big-ass smile everywhere.
He hugging
everybody like he the fuckin’ mayor and his eyes are all over the place – they
smiling too. He stopped arguing with
Mami and now I hear them talking and
laughing. Since when those two laugh
together? Since never! Jaylee’s a laughy guy – but not like this –
not like some loco de remate.
He talking with Mamá all the time too – whispering and
shit. I don’t know what’s up but I know
I don’t like it.
This morning
when he leave, I told Mamá I think he using
again. Right after he kissed me goodbye
on’a top of my head while I was eating my cereal. Like he’s my fuckin’ dad or some shit.
But Grandma say he ain’t on the bad
shit – that he’s on the good shit.
I just frown and roll my eyes at her – like she supposed ‘ta know
anything.
“¿Qué es eso, Mamá? - the good shit?
She laughs out loud and then winks at me.
“Tu hermano
‘ta enamorado, niña.
Aficiao.”
Your brother is in love.
