The Redemption of Callie and Kayden by Jessica Sorensen Review

From Goodreads:

"The dark secret Kayden has kept hidden for years is out. Worse, he's facing charges for battery. The only way he stands a chance against the charges is if Callie speaks up, something he'll never ask her to do.

Callie knows Kayden is going back to his dark place and desperately wants to save him. But saving him means admitting her secrets aloud. Callie and Kayden are stronger than they think, especially when they're together. Together they move forward, face their demons, and finally start to heal from their traumatic pasts."

My Thoughts:

Holy.. wow.

The Redemption of Callie and Kayden starts off just about a week after we left off in The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden. Kayden is in the hospital, and his secret is out. But, Callie has yet to see him, as he is currently under watch and is only allowed family visitors.

"I was once shattered to pieces, destroyed by the hand of another, but now I feel like I'm beginning to reconnect. Or at least I did feel that way. But when I found Kayden on the floor it felt like part me splintered again."

The journey for all 4 friends in this book is unbelievable. In the current absence of Kayden, it leaves Callie, Seth, and Luke to lean on each other. Everyone seems to be doing their own amount of healing throughout this story. It's amazing to watch all 4 of them begin to overcome their pasts, especially Callie, who in my opinion has made the most progress.

"It'll be all right. It'll be all right. Kayden will be all right.
Because I'm here, dancing, smiling, and sitting between two guys, and if that can happen, then anything is possible."

When Callie and Kayden realize they have done all the healing that they can by themselves, it is time to make some big decisions, that will change the course of their futures. They need support from people outside of eachother, and they need to let others in. The also need to share the truth....

"We'll fall into each other and become one single person and we can share our pain instead of carrying it by ourselves."

The Redemption of Callie and Kayden was the bumpiest road I have ever seen towards healing in a book, and I loved it, because it made it feel so much more real. We delve so much deeper into the lives of, not only Callie and Kayden, but Seth and Luke as well. I loved this book, I really did. It continued their story on in such a believable way, and it flowed flawlessly.

In the first book we saw two broken people too afraid to change, but in this one, we see two mending hearts, trying their damnedest to move forward.

"I need to wake up and really believe everything will be okay instead of just hoping it will be. I want to be one of the lucky ones who has a good life."

We don't leave off at a cliffhanger, per say. Most is resolved by the end of the book, but there are new questions that arise with Luke, which makes me LOVE the fact that book #3 is focused on him. The Destiny of Violet and Luke is due to be out January 7, 2014. There will also be one more story for Callie and Kayden, book #3.5, The Resolution of Callie and Kayden, which currently does not have a release date.
More to come once I know more on either of these.

Also, can I beg for a Seth book? Pretty please?

Favorite Quote:

"I believe in irrational, fleeting decisions that keep life interesting. And life needs to be interesting because we've got only one of them to live."
