Maddie has been through more tragedy than most people would ever see in their life. She has given up on living, and only living to breathe. With nobody on her side, she has been marked as the cause of her mother’s death and lives with this guilt every day. She is close to giving up until she sets her eyes on the one person who doesn’t look at her with disgust.

Jase is the new guy in school, he was transferred to a new school after moving out of his fathers house into his mothers. But Jase knows about Maddie and knows about her past. He thinks he can keep this a secret and help protect her. When the truth comes out will they be able to survive their worlds being turned upside down? Will their connection be strong enough to make it through? Sometimes love isn't enough...

Her Love Ran Crimson is a story about Maddie's ginourmous struggle to escape the life that she has no control over. With her mother murdered, she is left with her horrible step-father, and dragged into his world. She has no choice but to do what he says, until she can escape once she turns 18. But that is a few months away, so for now, the only thing on her mind is survival.

Maddie went from popular, to wallflower, doing whatever she can to stay in the shadows. She has no friends, and no family to run to, until Jase crashes into her life. Once she sees Jase for the first time, she's done for.

"I have never seen eyes this green. I am frozen in time, taking in every detail of his face. I am mesmerized."

Jase is determined to break through Maddie's shell, even though she warns him to stay away. With the life Maddie is forced to live, everyone who gets close to her eventually gets hurt, and she doesn't want to drag anyone else down with her. Especially since her escape is so close..

"I don't know why he cares. He doesn't even know me, yet he is trying to get inside, which is only goingt o make things more dangerous and put him at risk."

This book kept me guessing, wondering, and on the edge of my seat. There are so many secrets that Maddie is holding, and as each one starts to come out, all I wanted to do was scream for her to run as far away from her life as possible. There are twists, turns, and terrible situations that she is forced to endure. Jase adds a lightness to this story, some normalcy, but he holds his own secret. This was an awesome quick read for me, and I'm definitely looking forward to reading more of Zoey's writing!
