The Impact of You by Kendall Ryan Review

From GoodReads:

"Needing an escape from her past, Avery chooses a college where no one knows her. Keeping a low profile was the plan, falling for the intense frat boy, Jase wasn’t. Yet she can’t deny how alive she feels when he’s near. Even as common sense implores her to stay away, her body begs her to get closer.

Jase, numb from his own family drama, has grown bored with weekends fueled by nameless girls and countless bottles when he meets Avery. Helping her cope with her past is better than dealing with the bullshit his own life’s served up. Determined to drive away the painful secret she’s guarding, he appoints himself her life coach, and challenges her to new experiences. Getting close to her and being the one to make her smile are simply perks of the job.

But when Avery’s past boldly saunters in, refusing to be forgotten, can Jase live with the truth about the girl he’s fallen for?

Recommended for 17+ due to mature themes and sexual content."

My Thoughts:

A perfect story of two college kids who are ready to live their lives differently. Avery, who comes off as timid and quiet, is just trying to hide a dark secret from her past that she would love nothing more than to forget about. Jase, however, seems like he's ready to grow up, and not live the typical college life.

They first run into each other at a frat party, that Jase's frat house is hosting. Avery is hoping to blend in, be a nobody that nobody notices.

"Tonight is about blending in. And something tells me being the stone-sober girl with a perma-frown etched into her face isn't the way to do it."

It isn't long before Jase notices Avery, and Avery notices Jase staring at her. Looking for an escape Avery heads outside, where Jase follows her. After a quick exchange, they part for the night. To Avery's surprise, the following day, Jase is in one of her classes. Jase actually seems to be everywhere Avery is, randomly running into each other on campus. Soon, Jase decides it will be his mission to be her "Life-Coach" and break quiet Avery out of her shell.

"So how would this life-coaching work exactly... I'm not going to say I'm interested, but if I was..." (Avery)
"We'd need to begin spending more time together for starters." (Jase)

Secrets are kept, secrets are revealed, life altering decisions are made, and not-so-random road trips happen. Where will it all bring Avery and Jase's relationship?...

...Well, I'm not going to tell you! GO READ IT! Because it was awesome. A truly wonderful story of two semi-broken people looking for a fresh start.
