From Goodreads:
"High school sweethearts manage to make it through college into the working world still together and going strong. From the start of their relationship Jake has made very clear his apprehension to marriage. Kenna understood going into this nine years ago that with Jake there would never be a ring or white dress.
Now seeing their friends so eager to make such a serious commitment in their own relationships a crack begins to form in Jake and Kenna’s once solid foundation.
Will Kenna ever open up and share her dreams with Jake? Can Jake overcome his childhood issues? Is Kenna willing to accept things just as they are forever? Will her desire for a more serious commitment make her change her feelings for her one love? Is Jake enough alone or does Kenna demand more than he can give? Can they move forward full throttle into their future together?"
My Thoughts:
This series just keeps getting better and better!
In this book, we see Jake and Kenna's relationship. They have been together for NINE years, and there is still not a ring on Kenna's finger. It is the only thing left that Kenna wants. However, it is the one thing that Jake isn't willing to give her.
"Our life here is Charlotte is fabulous. We both love our jobs, have amazing friends, a great house we recently purchased, and best of all, we will always have each other. The only thing missing is the ring."
Now with everyone around them either engaged, or close to being engaged, the pressure is on Jake. Kenna is dead set on marriage, but Jakes past prevents him from ever wanting to consider it. Out of everyone in their group, their relationship has been around the longest, and is definitely the most solid. But can opposing thoughts on the end game of their lives together be what breaks them?
"Am I prepared to lose Jake for my dreams of having a family of my own?"
Kenna needs to decide if she can live with just being a "live-in girlfriend", and Jakes needs to decide if he can get over his view of marriage, face his demons, and propose.
"That pill they call pride is one that's hard to swallow. I'm currently choking on it."
Full Throttle was awesome! I LOVED that we got to see another side of the "perfect couple". Again, it proves that every relationship has its own set of skeletons, no matter how amazing they look from the outside.
Thank you Chelsea for adding a "Book 2.5" to this series, it was amazing!
"The little things, Kenna, my baby girl, will show you if a boy is really growing into a man."
Favorite Quote (that made me giggle!):
"I get to the shop. All the boys seem super distracted today. Where is the farmer's almanac? Is a full moon coming? Guys arent like women; we don't all get our periods at the same time."
