From GoodReads:
"A missed first encounter…
Colliding with a second chance…
On the heels of graduating college and trying to cope with her mother’s death, Emily Cooper moves to New York City for a fresh start.
While harboring secrets of his own, Dillon Parker takes care of Emily through her grief. Knowing he can’t live without her by his side, he’s sweet, thoughtful, and everything Emily has ever wanted in a man.
Until she meets Gavin Blake—a rich and notorious playboy who is dangerously sexy and charming as hell. Emily tries to deny the instant connection she feels, but Mr. Tall, Dark, and Handsome is not inclined to let go so easily. Recovering from his own painful past, Gavin will stop at nothing to win Emily over.
This unexpected encounter compels Emily to question her decisions, forcing her to make a choice that will destroy friendships, shatter hearts, and forever change her life"
My Thoughts:
Collide is one non stop rollercoaster ride of emotions. From one page to the next you could thrilled that things are working out exactly how they should, to devastated when yet another thing gets in their way. It is a non-stop-can't-put-this-down read.
Emily's mother has passed away from cancer, and she has nothing left for her in her home town, so she decides to move to NYC to be closer to her boyfriend, Dillon, and move in with her best friend Olivia.
"As he held her hand, Dillon leaned over and stroked a piece of her hair away from her face. 'Everything is going to be all right, Em.' he whispered."
In the beginning I wanted to like Dillon, I really did. And actually, I did like him.. for a short period of time. VERY short. Though Emily thinks that Dillon can do no wrong, and is absolutely perfect, she finds out soon that taking a long-distance relationship to an every day normal relationship leaves the door open for hidden lies and secrets to come out.
Gavin.. ahh Gavin.. Mr. Tall, Dark, and Fuckable Handsome. A man with secrets all of his own. A man who does NOT give up when he finds something that he so desperately wants.
A chance encounter with Gavin has Emily questioning everything in her relationship with Dillon.
"I don't know. It was just the strangest reaction I've ever had with someone. And talk about embarrassed at the way I handled myself. A preschooler would've done better."
When Emily realizes who Gavin really is, her life is, once again, turned upside down. This is a book where you get to know each and every character on their own, and every single one of them is intertwined. Lies and relationships threaten to tear this group of friends apart. It's a semi-panic-attack every time someone else lets out a little bit of truth, or something happens that could possibly make all of their lives change.
Collide has twist after twist, and a super mega cliff hanger. This is another "I read this before I started this blog", so I went back and re-read it in anticipation for Pulse. It was worth every month that I had waited and waited for Pulse, book 2 in the series, which is now available! So guess what my next review will be.. :)
Favorite Quote of the book:
"Isn't it amazing - the paths that bring people together?....Fate and the roads that get placed in front of us. It's like one huge puzzle that ultimately fits in the end."
