"In A Heartbeat" by Hilary Storm Review

Blurb

Eaven Bennett is a college student with a passion for photography. She has high hopes of completing college and starting a new life as she moves away from her hometown with her best friend, Ivy Adams. Her last boyfriend ruined any chance of her trusting ever again.

Talon Walker is the dark and intriguing drummer for the up and coming band ‘Rebel Walking’. A tragedy in his past has left him empty with no desire for a relationship. That is until he meets Eaven.

One minute your heart is filled with love, the next your entire life comes crashing down. Everything can change in a heartbeat. Can Eaven and Talon overcome the obstacles in their way and find love?

My Thoughts

Best friends, Eaven and Ivy, have recently completed their first two years of college, and have decided to transfer to a new school and share an apartment. These two girls are complete polar opposites. Eaven, is more quiet and reserved with her mind set only on college, not guys, while Ivy is loud, outgoing, hilarious, boy crazy, and borderline inappropriate (and that is why I LOVE the best friend of the book haha)

As soon as they move into the apartment, Ivy is on Eaven to go out their first night. So they hit up a local bar where Eaven's cousins band will be playing a set. Having never met the band before, both girls are in for a surprise, when a set of hottie twins are in her cousins band. Ivy immediately notices the loud mouth, Taron, while Eaven is drawn to the mystery twin, Talon, who isn't speaking a word.

"Why is he staring at me like that? I can't even look in his direction anymore because it is like he is taking away all of the oxygen in the room."

Ivy is apparently rubbing off on Eaven, when Eaven takes the initiative to start talking to Talon. Talon, who hasn't been interested in anyone in a VERY long time because of a heartbreaking past, finds himself intrigued with Eaven. The two of them hit it off (awkwardly) but quickly, and soon fall into the comfort of each other.

"I feel like this girl is going to rip to shreds the wall that I have built around myself."

Talon's past has left him broken and jaded, and Eaven's past, has left her a relationship skeptic. But somehow, these two, fit perfectly together. But the past has a way of coming back with a vengeance...

"If I had never met you, I wouldn't be here with you feeling more love than I have felt in my entire life."

In A Heartbeat was a rollercoaster of emotions, with a very big "oh shit, noooo!!" moment. I loved all of the characters in this book. You definitely connect with every one of them, even the random cowboy (hehe).  The beginning felt a little bit rushed, but everything levels out soon enough, and I felt myself really wrapped up in the story. Ivy was, hands down, my favorite part of the book, which is why I am absolutely THRILLED that Heaven Sent (Rebel Walking #2) is her story! Her relationship with the loud twin, Taron, brings a much needed lightness to all the heaviness of Eaven and Talon's story.

Definitely enjoyed this one!!

Be sure to check back on the blog on September 29th, my blog tour stop for Heaven Sent!

Favorite Quote

Okay, so I'm not picking a favorite quote for this book. Instead, I'm letting everyone know how much I ADORE the title. It holds so much more meaning than what is let on in the blurb, and every time I could relate a part of the story back to the title, I got goosebumps. So high five, Hilary Storm, for a perfectly fitting title for this book!
